BEZA ANTARA PROJECT DAN PROJECT MANAGEMENT???? & 9 KNOWLEDGE AREAS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Sebelum itu kita mestilah mengenalpasti maksud antara kedua-dua istilah ini. ia nampak sama tetapi mempunyai maksud dan huraian yang berbeza. Perbezaan itu dapat dilihat dengan kriteria yang ada pada istilah tersebut.
Kriteria yang perlu ada apabila kita memanggil sesuatu itu `project’ adalah:
- 1) Temporary (sementara)- disini membawa maksud apabila ia mengatakan sesuatu itu adalah projek, ia mestilah mempunyai masa atau tempoh yang menyatakan ia bermula dan bila ia berakhir.
- 2) Unique (unik @ istimewa)- dimana hasil yang dapat dari projek tersebut samada servis,produk ataupun keputusan, ia adalah unik yang bukan di amalkan dalam seharian ataupun sepanjang hidup.
- 3) Progressive elaboration- pembangunan @ projek yang dibuat dalam berperingkat. Ini bermakna perlunya ada peringkat permulaan, pertengahan, dan peringkat akhir.

- 5) Have a primary customer or sponsor where they will guide and give direction and funding of the project.
Project management dimaksudkan pula:
- - Aplikasi pengetahuan, teknik, skill, alatan untuk digunakan dalam sesuatu aktiviti projek.
- - Aktiviti projek merangkumi proses initiation(inisiasi), planning (perancangan), executing (melaksanakan), monitoring (kawalan),closing(penutupan).

-all constrain must be defined first before the project are started.

5) COST MANAGEMENT-one of the fundamental and yet most challenging tasks for a project manager.
6) RISK MANAGEMENT- identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities.
7) HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT-the strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization's most valued assets - the people working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the business.
8) PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT- the acquisition of appropriate goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership to meet the needs of the purchaser in terms of quality and quantity, time, and location.
9) COMMUNICATON MANAGEMENT-the systematic planning, implementing, monitoring, and revision of all the channels of communication within an organization, and between organizations; it also includes the organization and dissemination of new communication directives connected with an organization, network, or communications technology.
